posted 03/09/2010 Dear Parents,
Once again the Brookfield Lacrosse Club is offering to all our parents and families the opportunity to become CPR/AED trained. This certification is by the American Heart Association, (which is the standard for all health care professionals). We had two successful classes last year and are planning another class on Wed., March 31, 2010, at the CT Sports Arena in New Milford. Please note, this is NOT a fundraiser. The club does not profit from this in any way. We are doing this as a community service project to our club’s families and we’d like to extend the offer to the BHS Lacrosse teams and their families also. We are to limiting the class to 20 participants and we are offering this to the CT Sportsplex employees as well, so the first 20 people to sign up and pay will be accepted. If needed, we will hold a second class on Tues., April 20th.
The certification will be valid for 2 years. Access Ambulance Company of Stamford will be providing the CPR/AED training. The cost of becoming CPR/AED certified is usually between $75.00 and $85.00 per person through the American Red Cross. Access is offering us this course at $60.00 per person which includes books, certification and ID cards, registration of certification with the American Heart Association, BLS (basic life support/first aid) and proper Epi- pen use. If you decide to take advantage of this great opportunity, you can register and pay online through the Brookfield Lacrosse Club’s website. The link for the CPR class is located on the left side of the home page under “registration”. Then, follow the link for “CPR classes” at the bottom of the page. Since all CPR certification cards will be issued at the end of the class we need to have all participants registered ahead of time, no walk-ins will be accepted. The deadline for registration is Wed. March 24, 2010. If you register for the class, no refunds will be issued if you do not show or cancel within 48 hrs of the class.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Lenore Fox,
/ 203-994-8786. We urge all to take advantage of this great opportunity. The life you save could be one of your loved ones!
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Lenore Fox

posted 01/19/2010 Please visit the "Girls Game" section of the website for details on the change. The below letter briefly outlines what the change means:
Dear CONNY Girls Program Directors,
At the January 12th, 2010 CONNY Board meeting, CONNY Girls was ratified and is now a reality!
At the meeting, members of the CONNY Girls Steering Committee presented the CONNY modifications to Official Rules for Girls Youth Lacrosse, the guidelines and requirements for coaches training, and the steps we are taking towards a centralized referee scheduling process. Paralleling the successful administration of the boys side of CONNY, CONNY Girls has instituted a scheduling system and season calendar and has adopted the Rules and Regulations of CONNY Lacrosse.
The end of season CONNY Girls tournament is scheduled to be held on Sunday, June 13th at Yale University. For this first year, we will hold this tournament for 8th grade, 7/8th grade combination, and U-15 teams.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments on any of this material, and welcome to CONNY Girls!

posted 03/18/2009 All,
The following appeared in the March 18th issue of The New Yorker and I must say it is really good. If you know nothing about the sport your son or daughter is playing you will find it very informative (unfortunately for you fans of the girls game it is mostly on the boys game) and for those that know the sport well you will be equally informed and entertained. I strongly encourage you to print it out and give it a read and then pass it on to your son or daughter for them to read. It is probably the best "general" article I have seen on the sport that covers some history, the specifics, the strategy, the similarities to other sports and where the sport is going (world wide).
