Possible Brookfield Lacrosse Fall Golf Tournament
by posted 07/23/2010

Parents - looking into possibility of running a Brookfield Lacrosse Fall Golf Tournament in early October.  I want to put together a planning committee to discuss the idea and possibly plan the event.  The tournament proceeds would go to the Youth/High School programs and help pay for equipment, training and indoor time for both the youth and High School.   Please let me know if you would like to join the committee and look into planning a great Fall event.

Thanks
Kevin Madden

The league will be run in a outdoor full field 10 on 10 format, and will allow 5-6th graders and 7-8th grade players to continue playing the game as a team at a competitive level during the summer in preparation for fall tournament teams, and their town programs. In the spring.  This is a great way to keep your youth teams playing and learning over the fall months while providing them with a opportunity to compete in weekly games during the off season months. This is also a great opportunity for guys who are not playing on club or elite fall teams to get a great playing experience at a fraction of the price of a fall club team.

The league will consist  of 8 teams, 4 at the 5-6th grade level  and 4 teams at the 7-8th grade level.  The games will be played at Allen’s Meadows Field at Wilton HS. Games will take place from 12:00pm to 4:00pm and paid CIAC referees will be staffed. Teams will play one game per week. Games will consist of two thirty-five minute running time half’s. Players will serve penalty time, and CONNY Rules will apply.  Teams are encouraged to provide their own coach, or a coach can be provided upon request

A great lax article...
by posted 03/18/2009

All,

The following appeared in the March 18th issue of The New Yorker and I must say it is really good. If you know nothing about the sport your son or daughter is playing you will find it very informative (unfortunately for you fans of the girls game it is mostly on the boys game) and for those that know the sport well you will be equally informed and entertained. I strongly encourage you to print it out and give it a read and then pass it on to your son or daughter for them to read. It is probably the best "general" article I have seen on the sport that covers some history, the specifics, the strategy, the similarities to other sports and where the sport is going (world wide).
